Will The Tenants Leave If You Sell?

One of the most common concerns I hear from Minneapolis and St Paul duplex owners is that if they decide to sell, their tenants will become upset and leave.

Tenants share the same concern.

If a tenant has a current lease with a duplex owner, and the property is sold, the lease follows the property, not the seller.

The buyer of the duplex is bound by all the same dates and lease restrictions as the previous owner. The only thing that changes is who the rent check is made payable to.
