On Monday the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a case that challenged New York’s rent control law.
The plaintiffs, comprised of individual property owners, the Rent Stabilization Association and Community Housing Improvement Program began in 2019 after New York reformed the original rent control law passed in 1969. The modifications made the original law even more restrictive.
The case was thought to have implications for not just New York City and state, as well as for the cities across the country with rent control.
